THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT
I recently had the pleasure of seeing Rodger Daltrey perform live in LA. ALSO just happened to see him in the parking lot after and he just happened to wink at me. So I'm thinking back to what a great show it was, how great he was ... especially as they had just got the band together and it was literally PUT TOGETHER onstage. He made it a part of the experience and was letting the audience in on it. He would say something like, "this is rough, and I'm the roughest of all of us" but he DELIVERED. That's what it comes down to. Vocally, he was on the mark with Who Are You, Magic Bus, Behind Blue Eyes and Pinball Wizard and his Cash and Taj Mahal covers were exceptional. Halfway through a set he didn't like how low the drum levels were because of the glass sound-blocker so he ordered the crew to take it down, dropping his gat down and lifting it himself. Now that's a front man.We then had after-hours at the Rainbow which is one of the best bars out here no matter which way you look at it - even if your view is up the ass. Which sometimes this dive appears to be, as always great company though. You know who you are Slim. Also, managed to shake the hand of Jimmy Page's guitar tech. Too much ...

on waking

Do you realise - that we're floating through space
Do you realise - that happiness makes you cry
Do you realise - that everyone you know someday will die
And instead of saying all your goodbyes - let them know
You realise that life goes fast
It's hard to make good things last
You realise the sun doesnt go down
Its just an illusion caused by the world spinning round.

Where I end and she begins...
This is Lucy in the sky with diamonds - she makes me laugh like no one else. She's always there when I need her and we are going to see the world together through those "kaleidoscope eyes." This makes me think of us: we are friends and I do like to pass the day with you in serious and inconsequential chatter. I wouldn't mind washing up beside you, dusting beside you, reading the back half of the paper while you read the front. We are friends and I would miss you, do miss you and think of you very often.

The Heart is a Lonely Hunter
"This was her, Mick Kelly, walking in the daytime and by herself at night. In the hot sun and in the dark with all the plans and feelings. This music was her—the real plain her...This music did not take a long time or a short time. It did not have anything to do with time going by at all. She sat with her arms around her legs, biting her salty knee very hard. The whole world was this symphony, and there was not enough of her to listen... Now that it was over there was only her heart beating like a rabbit and this terrible hurt."
